Which of the following statements is true/false.according to the passage/author?
Which of the following statements is Not mentioned?等等。
例1
A) The former is more expensive.
B) Computers are installed into smart buildings.
C) Smart buildings are more likely to be damaged.
D) Smart buildings can save more lives.
Questions
1.Which of the following is not the difference between smart building and traditional buildings?

After the violent earthquake that shook Los Angeles in 1994, earthquake scientists had good news to report: the damage and death toll could have been much worse.More than 60 people died in this earthquake.By comparison, an earthquake of similar intensity that shook America in 1988 claimed 25,000 victims.Injuries and deaths were relatively less in Los Angeles because the quake occurred at 4:31 a.m.On a holiday, when traffic was light on the city’s highway. In addition, changes made to the construction methods in Los Angeles during the last 20 years have strengthened the city’s buildings and highways, making them more resistant to quakes.
Despite the good news, engineers today are determined to come up with a new design that would offer even greater security to buildings during earthquake. In the past, people used steel and rubber, materials that bend without breaking, to make buildings resistant to earthquakes. The new design would install computers in the building and the computers would help the building adjust itself during the earthquake.Such buildings would be called smart buildings and could be very expensive to build. However, they would save many lives and would be less likely to be damaged during earthquake.
例2
A) Teachers are well paid at Deep Springs.
B) Students are mainly from New York States.
C) The length of schooling is two years.
E) Teachers needn't pay for their rent and meals.
Questions:
Which of the following is the most appropriate title for this Passage?
Deep Springs is an American college. It is an unusual college. It is high in the white mountains in California, not in a college town. The campus is a collection of old buildings with no beautiful classrooms. The only college-like thing about Deep Spring is its library. Students can study from the 17,000 books 24 hours a day. The library is never crowded as there are only 24 well-qualified male students at the college. In addition, there are only five full-time professors. These teachers believe in the idea of this college. They need to believe in it. They do not get much money. In fact, their salaries are only about 9,000 dollars a year plus room and meals. The school gives the young teachers as well as the students something more important than money. “There is no place like Deep Springs”, says a second-year student from New York State, “Most colleges today are mu
ch the same but Deep Springs is not afraid to be different.” He says that students at his college are in a situation quite unlike in the other school. Students are there to learn and they cannot run away from problems. There is no place to escape to. At most colleges, students can close their books and go to a film. They can go out to restaurants or to parties. Deep Springs students have completely different alternatives. They can talk to each other or to their teachers. Another possible activity is to go to the library to study. They might decide to do some walk in the desert. Deep Springs is far from the world of restaurants and cinemas. There is not even a television set on campus.
Where do you think the passage is taken from ?
What will the author will discuss after the passage?

Are you afraid to raise your hand in class, even when you know the answer? If you are, most people would say that you're shy.
If you feel shy, you' re not alone. Nine out of ten people are at least a little shy. But however shy you are, scientific evidence seems to show that it isn't your fault. You may have been born that way.
How do psychologists measure shyness?. One way is by observation. The others, or how long it takes someone to say hello to a stranger.
Another way to measure shyness is to ask people questions. The test onlytakes about 10 minutes. It asks questions like "Do you like going out a lot?" and"Do you have many friends?" People must answer either yes or no. These questions can predict how people actually behave in social situations. Suppose the test tells you that someone is shy, chances are good that person will act shy.
When scientists measure shyness, they' re really comparing degrees of shyness. In other words, when researchers say people are shy, they really mean they are more shy than others.
1. Why does the speaker say that it isn't a fault to be shy?
(A)Some people are born shyly.
(B) Shyness can' t be overcome.
(C)Nine out of ten people are not shy.
(D)People's actions show that people can overcome shyness.
2. The passage is most likely a part of.
(A)a new article
(B)a research report
(C)a preface
(D)a popular scientific took
But however shy you are, scientific evidence seems to show that isn’t your fault. You may have been born that way.
One must learn by doing the thing;though you think you know it, you have no certainty until you try.
——Sophocles
